Threats Lead To The Arrest Of A Welland Man

On Tuesday January 29th, 2008 police responded to a Niagara Street address for a threatening phone call complaint. Upon arrival police learned that a male was threatened to be killed by another male. A suspect was subsequently identified, which lead police to an address on Connaught Avenue in the City of Welland. Police learned that the suspect was in possession of several firearms in his residence and therefore the Niagara Regional Police Tactical Unit attended. Shortly before midnight police made contact with the suspect, who agreed to surrender himself. Members of the tactical unit arrested the suspect without incident.

Charged with one count of uttering a death threat is 61-year-old Eric Beatty. Beatty will be attending a bail hearing on Wednesday January 30th, 2008 at the St. Catharines courthouse. Police searched Beatty’s residence where several firearms and ammunition were seized.
