Part 16 of a collection about the Merritton Train Tunnel that runs under the 3rd Welland Canal. Look forward to more newspaper clippings, photos and videos from what is now known as, The Blue Ghost Tunnel.
This is video of the hidden entrance (east end) of the Blue Ghost Tunnel. Many people have been searching for directions but it really is one of those places that can’t be described. It’s a good hour long hike over streams and through dense forest.

how do you get to this?!
I was hiking in this area today and found the West End of the tunnel but despite much searching could not find the Eastern Entrance . . . can anyone provide some directions?
Cross the train bridge just past G.M. heading east. Immediately after the bridge, turn right. Follow trails. You will come to a trail that goes up a steep hill (escarpment). Do not go up the hill, continue straight on fading trail until you reach a small creek. Cross the creek and continue on over huge boulders. Eventually you will see the old train track grading leading to the entrance leading to the east side of the blue ghost tunnel.
ive got videos posted on my youtube channel
I may post it. Thanks!
I was here on July 13th @ the East Entrance, followed an old deer path, found it eventually, we actually walked past it but found it back tracking, found an old dried up pond and a dried up stream so we followed that and that used to flow into the east side, which is why it is flooded but the ground in front of it wasn’t as flooded as everyone thinks, I could stand directly in front of it. I got alot of pics of both entrances on my facebook page, message me if you wanna know more.
@Gary i am very interested in seeing your photos and exchanging stories, please point me in the direction to your facebook page, thank you!
