Keep Up The Good Work Fort Erie

Clipped From The Fort Erie Times Newspaper

The recent Christmas season is now a thing of the past and we have the year 2008 to look forward to.

Christmas is a time known for gift-giving and contributions to community, but Fort Erie really seemed to outdo itself this year. If you take a look at recent issues of The Fort Erie Times, you will find a healthy selection of news dealing with donations to Community Outreach Program Erie, the Kinsmen Club’s Gift of Love, Casa El Norte and other local charities.

For the past month, this newspaper’s editorial staff have been running from gift presentation to cheque donation as local residents showed their generosity to the community.

It really was incredible. Many schools in the area are continuing the tradition of toy drives, something every child can really get into. Adults usually prefer to donate cash or non-perishable food items, both of which are necessary for the less-fortunate in our community.

The Times would like to congratulate those in the Greater Fort Erie area who contributed to the massive charity drives this holiday season. It’s your hard work that keeps many families and citizens from succumbing to the problems that afflict so many poverty-stricken Canadians.

Let’s hope everyone will keep up the good work during the coming year. Charities and non-profit organizations are always looking for donations and it’s not like there is a special time when they do not accept gifts.

Think about it. It’s a win-win situation for everyone-people benefit from the donation and the giver gets to feel good about doing something other making the long trudge to work five days a week.
