Elderly Womand Killed While Crossing Lake Street

On Wednesday, November 21 st, 2007 at approximately 6:45 p.m. members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, St. Catharines Fire Services and Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a pedestrian struck in front of 600 Lake Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Initial investigation revealed that an 84-year-old St. Catharines woman while wearing dark clothing was attempting to cross Lake Street towards the Hiedehof, Home For The Aged. In doing so she stepped eastbound into the path of a 2001 Ford Pick Up Truck being operated by a 63 year old Stevensville man who was southbound on Lake Street.

The pedestrian was taken to the Niagara Health System – St. Catharines General Site, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver of the Ford was uninjured in the collision.

Excessive rain and driving conditions are factors in this collision.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

The collision remains under investigation by members of the Niagara Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses are requested to contact the Unit at (905) 688-4111

    I came to this post when I was searching for elderly pictures. Well this is not what I wanted to see. Is anyone around here?
