Crime Spree Brought To An End

NRPS Media Release

On Wednesday January 9th, 2008 at approximately 2:55 AM members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Uniform Branch responded to a report of a Robbery that occurred at a Lundy’s Lane convenience store in the City of Niagara Falls.

A vehicle matching the description of the offending vehicle was observed leaving the area. Police attempted to stop the vehicle by activating their emergency equipment, the vehicle continued on, refusing to stop. The operator of the vehicle in an attempt to evade Police abandoned the vehicle in a city parking lot after a brief pursuit. The operator then fled the vehicle, but was arrested nearby without incident.

Investigation by members of the Niagara Regional Police Service #2 District Detective Office revealed that the suspect had also been involved in a second Robbery that occurred earlier in the evening at a Gas Bar in the City of Welland. In both occurrences the accused fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Charged with Two Counts of Robbery, one count of Flight from Police, one count of Dangerous Driving, one count of Drive While Prohibited, one count of Take Motor Vehicle without Consent and Breach of Probation is twenty six year old Curtis Lamarre of no fixed abode. Lamarre is to appear in Bail Court on Thursday January 10th, 2008 to answer to the charges.
