Here is how Niagara Falls would look if the American Falls was on the Canadian side. This amateur film was shot around 1947/48 from Canada. The film was put in backwards which makes the falls look a little odd.

Here is a nice collection of Fort Erie photos I stumbled upon today. Take a look.

This photo has been sent by Candice from New York State with the comment “Now that we know where the Maid of the Mist is not, where the hell is it”?

Here are a couple photos sent to us by Curtis of Thorold. He said that he found this place, on Glenridge Avenue in St. Catharines, to be “not very modern at all”.

Some photos of the hundreds of ducks littering Dufferin Islands Nature Area in Niagara Falls.

I have been meaning to post some pictures of this year’s St.Catharines santa clause parade for over a month now. Here are 4 of them and I should have more up soon.

This attraction is visited by over 420,000 people on an annual basis and is located on the Niagara Parkway just 500 metres south of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

From a distance, this statue of a young boy in front of the greenhouse appears to be wearing high heels.

According to the Niagara Parks Commission, the face of the Floral Clock is changed twice per year. Here are 14 different images of the Floral Clock face.

I took these photos on one of my many outings down in the tourist district by Niagara Falls. It was a cloudy wet day in the summer of 2005. I just recently found them on a disc and I thought I would share them with you.

This next one is of a girl and her mother receiving a traffic violation. Please excuse the poor focus.

If you have seen the movie Chuck and Larry, you would remember the part when they come to Niagara Falls to get married. As Chuck and Larry ride around in the cab, you can see stock footage of local businesses pass by. Most of the business names where changed, photoshopped if you will, to names of Wedding Chapels. While watching the video below, see if you can guess what they really are and place your answer in the comments.

Two students spend the entire night building a giant snow castle on their First Avenue lawn.

Have you ever noticed the little Imp along the roof line of the Old Lincoln County Registry Office in St. Catharines?

The story starts in the 14th Century with Satan sending 2 imps to the Lincoln Cathedral in England to cause trouble. The Imps started by smashing up tables and chairs and destroying the Angel Choir. One of the imps was brave and started throwing rocks at an angel but the other imp cowered under the broken tables and chairs. The angel turned the first imp to stone and this gave the second imp a chance to escape. The first Imp still sits high above the Cathedral while the second Imp was never found. There are several versions to the story and no one will ever know what really happened.
Local architects Arthur Nicholson and Robert Macbeth decided to include a similar Imp in the buildings design.
Once known as the Welland House Hotel, this building on the corner of Ontario and King Streets in St. Catharines was built in 1853. It opened in 1856 and has had visits by Mrs. Abraham Lincoln and Mrs. Robert E. Lee.
“The city was a real destination for many famous Americans.” says museum volunteer Linda Kurki in a recent newspaper interview.
Unlike now, when Canadians flock south to escape the winter cold, Americans would come north to get away from the summer heat.
The Welland House Hotel went bankrupt in 1993 and became the Downtown Student Residence in 1994.
I took this photo last Sunday when painters were on scaffolds finishing the exterior of the building.

Here is a satellite photo of the Old Fort Erie in the city of Fort Erie. The way the roads go, it looks like a person with a tear running down the face.

Part 2 of a collection about the Merritton Train Tunnel that runs under the 3rd Welland Canal. Look forward to more newspaper clippings, photos and videos from what is now known as, The Blue Ghost Tunnel.
Here are some old photos of the Blue Ghost Tunnel being built and a video of the construction along the Welland Canal.

I know the above photo is a bad one, it was taken from a moving car. Notice the new street that goes through the playground area.
The Victoria School which sits on Niagara Street in St.Catharines has been abandoned for many years. During recent renovations, movie fan Tyler Schwartz found the blackboard in a dumpster at the school. The chalkboard is the latest addition to a museum in Cleveland dedicated to the 1983 film.
