At the outflow of Lake Erie into Lake Ontario and a 90 minute drive from Toronto, the natural wonder of Niagara Falls is one of the most famous places on earth, and about half of it lies in Canada. With its thunderous curtain of cascading waters that you can see from beside, on top or even from underneath, the incredible uniqueness and panoramic beauty of Niagara Falls are two of the main reasons why most visitors hop aboard the Maid of the Mist boat to ride right up close to the action.

All summer, they’ve come by GO train. On Saturday, they started coming by GO bus.
Tourists by the dozen poured off the first buses offered by GO Transit, taking advantage of additional trips to and from Toronto.
It was the first day of year-round Niagara service by GO – though the train service is scheduled to end after Thanksgiving weekend, the buses will be permanent.
“The bus service is another option,” said GO spokeswoman Jillian Riddell, who added the same service also kicked off in Peterborough Saturday.
Crowds heading to Toronto by bus were slim on Day 1 -just one rider for the first departure at 7:55 a. m., and one rider again for the 11:55 a. m. ride.
“Everybody wants to ride the train instead,” said a train station employee who asked not to be identified.

The pilot of a small Cessna plane escaped injury Sunday afternoon after coming in for a hard landing in his own field in the Town of Lincoln.
Emergency crews were called around 2:25 p.m. after reports a plane crashed off Merritt Road near King Street.
The private plane, which had minor damage because of the crash, is owned by a resident at 4241 Merritt Rd. It is kept in a hanger behind the property.
Niagara Regional Police Const. Collyn Steckley said police are not investigating the crash.
Information has been passed to Transport Canada, which will decide whether or not to investigate further, Steckley said.
“The nature of having a plane and owning a flying a plane is up to Transport Canada. They’re the ones that regulate the operation of aircraft in Canada,” Steckley said.
“They’ll make a determination of the legalities of his ownership and operation of this aircraft.”
